What is Myofascial Release?

At Integrated therapy, we are advanced level and highly skilled in John Barnes' Myofascial release to decrease your pain. Your fascia is a 3-dimensional web of connective tissue in your body that holds together every system in our body. The "empty space" in our body is actually fascia, our ground substance. Fascial restrictions develop from physical injury, emotional trauma, poor posture, and repetitive motions. Like a dried sponge, our fascial restrictions become dehydrated and stiff. These restrictions create a "straight jacket" of up to 2000# per square inch, causing pain and limitations well beyond the source of the pain. With gentle, hands-on, sustained pressure, myofascial release removes the restrictions, finding the root cause of your pain, and allowing your body to move better, feel better and naturally heal so you can return to the activities you love.  At Integrated Therapy, we've heard your story.  You've been everywhere, seen everyone, and still haven't found lasting relief.  We can help.  Our goal is to help you find pain relief so you can return to living a healthier, more meaningful life.

Testimonials

What They’re Saying

"I highly recommend Mandi Ogaard, she is professional, knowledgeable and kind.  I am grateful for her care.  She really cares about the outcome of the treatments."

M.R.

Mandi first provided me with OT after an acute event five years ago.  She was my obvious first choice when I was again referred to PT/OT based on the earlier positive results and her multi-decade experience as an occupational therapist, additional specialization in myofascial release techniques.  Despite medical complexity, Mandi's treatment is a life-saver in improving my joint mobility and functionality with decreased pain and swelling.  As a retired physician, I enjoy our discussions on medical topics and deeply value her input, professional, and caring attitude toward her patients.

Mandi Ogaard has been instrumental in improving the chronic pain I have had in some of my ribs and lower back. Over time I had tried various remedies including physical therapy and found no relief. Introducing myofascial release to my recovery strategy has significantly improved my quality of life and most importantly gotten me back on the tennis courts. Her approach is wholistic, finding the source of the pain, that in my case was coming from other dysfunctional areas in my body. The most important thing I have retained from our sessions is that the body is all connected and to maintain my health I will have to utilize the tools I have learned from her in order to continue a pain free lifestyle.
